Blooms open a deep brick-red and slowly fade to a dusty rose. Gorgeous at every stage! Cosmos are an old-fashioned favourite, popular in cottage style gardens. The plants are easy to grow and will reward the gardener with a profusion of blooms. The blooms are complimented by airy, textural foliage.
Plant type: annual
Height: 36-48”
Planting depth: surface sow
Exposure: full sun
Plant spacing: 9-12”
Approx seeds per packet: 50
How to sow:
Sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost, barely covering the seeds. Harden off seedlings and transplant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Seeds can also be direct sown into the garden once all danger of frost has passed. Pinch seedlings when 12” tall.
Care:
Cosmos will tolerate poor soil conditions. Over fertilization will result in more foliage and fewer flowers. Harvest cut flowers just as buds are beginning to crack open. Deadheading is required to ensure blooms all season. 75-90 days to maturity.
