A traditional sunflower featuring golden petals and a dark disk. A true classic and everyone’s favourite, there are few other flowers that will invoke the same nostalgia as sunflowers. Charming towards the back of the garden border, or beautiful in a bouquet. A favourite among pollinators.
Plant type: annual
Height: 5-6’
Planting depth: 1/2”
Exposure: full sun
Plant spacing: 12”
Approx seeds per packet: 25
How to sow:
Direct seeding is highly recommended as plants do not transplant well. Sow when soil has warmed up. Pinching is not necessary.
Care:
Sunflowers are easy to grow and will tolerate a range of soil conditions. For cut flowers, harvest as the petals are beginning to open. Leaving the seed heads in the garden will attract birds.
