Also known as Sweet William, dianthus is an old-fashioned favourite. 'Salmone' is a rather choice variety we discovered while traveling through Italy to visit European flower breeders. Unlike many dianthus mixes, which sometimes produce unfavourable colours, 'Salmone' produces 100% salmon coloured blooms. The blooms are long lasting and the strong stems make them perfect bouquet making, or to simply enjoy in the garden. Low maintenance and easy to grow.

Plant type: biennial

Height: 20-24”

Planting depth: 1/8"

Exposure: full sun

Plant spacing: 12”

Approx seeds per packet: 50

How to sow:

Sow seeds indoors late spring to early summer. Harden off seedlings and transplant outdoors at least 6 weeks before last frost date. Transplants will establish themselves through late summer and autumn, over-winter in the garden, and bloom the following season. Pinching not necessary.

Care:

Harvest dianthus when a few blooms in a cluster have opened. Petals can be used as an edible garnish. 330-360 days to maturity.
