This is something quite special! Echinacea, also known as purple cone flower, has long been a reliable garden staple. Years ago we discovered a sport (natural genetic mutation) among the beds of echinacea we had been growing. Over the years we have bred and propagated this selection, and today we have 'Pink Petticoat'. A mix of singles, doubles, and semi-doubles make this echinacea a whimsical addition to the garden. No two plants are exactly alike. A first year flowering perennial, hardy to zone 3. A pollinator favourite.
Plant type: perennial
Height: 30-36”
Planting depth: 1/8"
Exposure: full sun
Plant spacing: 12”
Approx seeds per packet: 20
How to sow:
Sow seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Harden off and transplant outdoors after last frost. Pinching is not necessary.
Care:
Once established, echinacea is tolerant of heat and drought. For cut flowers, harvest mature blooms during the coolest parts of the day. Blooms which are harvested prematurely tend to wilt. 120-140 days to maturity.
